My previous reply re insurance has vanished...

I use http://www.hagertyinsurance.co.uk/ but they only do classics/sports however classic is anything over either 10-15 years (they were happy to quote for a defender and cover my S3)

They dont seem to care about mods at all and have a motto "until you learn to drive two cars at once, we will allways be cheap for multiplecars" (or something like!)

They do need you to have a policy with another insurere for a "propper" everyday car so are different form admiral Multicar etc. but well worth it if you have a normal car and a few toys.  You dont earn no claims however and its limited miles (but still fully comp) they also do guaranteed buy back so if you bin your pride an joy or family hierloom they wont just write it off.  Well worth a try in my mind

I have only one occasion that I have missed work because of off-roading (import as I'm a contractor so no holiday or sick pay) went into a ford that look OK (No depth Marker) turned out to be level bottom of windscreen sent the Electron silly for 24 hours (not TD5 ECU, but aftermarket satalite tracking system and electronic split charge system). :lol:.
Typical spoke to soon fortunately I was able to borrow my Dad car after alternator packed up whiles Off Roading with Coventry Warwickshire Mud-Club think although I believe the original electrical problem may have something to do with the failure this weekend.

My Terrano is the only motor we have, but I don't find it a prob as I like the inside to be clean anyway :D I don't push it to hard off road anyway as i'd rarther drive home than on the back of a low loader :roll: Since starting to drive off road I have found that my lovely shiny black paintwork has ended up with a few nice scratches & the last ones where on top of the front O/S wing thanks to a huge amount of mud that you chucked up in the air BigblueMaverick when I was following you in yorkshire the other week :doh: :doh: :doh:
I don't suffer insaity ! I enjoy it !!!

SORRY WE DO NOT INSURE

Hagerty does not offer an insurance product for:

    * Inexpensive home-built car kits that do not replicate a classic vehicle
    * Drivers with poor driving records
    * Any vehicles used for off-road or utility type driving
    * Pro-street vehicles modified exclusively with racing features such as roll cages, wheelie casters, nitrous systems, parachutes, etc. (Consideration may be given to show-use only vehicles)
    * Regular-use vehicles driven on a daily basis
    * Vehicles used primarily for commercial use
    * Motorcycles
    * Caravans

I take it that means they dont cover you `whilst` your offroading
