Just went to local scrap yard for some 3mm steel and in yard was hundreds of pounds of brand new rrc parts from springs to steering wheel, ignition locks with keys, one of the men in yard told me that they crushed a skip full of new rear tailgates. The owner told me under no cercumstances would they sell them as there under contract to destroy them. What a waste.

It is possible they are condemned rejects; hence the must destroy clause, not safe to put into service.

Were these new parts for new range rovers or for classic/P38?

If they were  rejects  there was a awfull lot of them they were for 85-89 rrcs i think

b*****ds, I needed a rear tailgate and I can't get one anywhere, meanwhile Land Rover classic parts is advertising in all the magazines but they've scrapped all their body panels.

Someone needs a slap and if they think this is going to make me buy a new land rover product they are sadly mistaken.

Sounds like Bull to me. Or they have miss-read the 'contract' if one exists? I suspect they are talking about something like a Waste Transfer Note or their Waste Handling License.
Confusing that these are described as new - as otherwise there could be a small breach of the End Of Life Vehicles Regulations 2003 ???

It can be part of the temder process, I know Ford do it all the time and are a bit harsh with peopole who don't comply.
