Copy of e-mail received by B&Q customer services:

Dear Sir/Madam,

My congratulations to you on getting a yacht to leave the UK on 28th November 2004, sail 27,354 miles around the world and arrive back 72 days later.

Could you please let me know when the kitchen I ordered 96 days ago will be arriving from your warehouse 13 miles away?

Yours etc., etc.
Paul

Been there done that 3 months later 1 set of doors arrived by night freight kick the doors all the way.10 doors basicly scrap 3 weeks later another 10 doors arrived by night freight kick the doors all the way. guess what only 6 doors scrap this time. anyway 2 set off doors deliverd over the next 6 weeks yes you guessed it half of them scrap finally managed to get my 10 doors out off all the sets sent, ended up with 38 DAMAGED doors in my shed.
WOULD I BUY ANOTHER KITCHEN OFF THEM. LIKE HELL
PS had to wait 3 weeks for them to pick the scrap doors up

My best mate at college was helping his parents put in a Kitchen one summer, one of these designer ones.  Anyway, it was in a Cherry finish, very nice but impossible to get anything to match, as they found out when they tried to get the few remaining items to complete the kitchen, you know, all the stuff they leave out of the order.  Basically by the time the kitchen was in it was no longer being made, so all the little fiddly bits were never going to come, so they didn't pay for it.

A while later a nasty letter comes from the recovery dept about an outstanding debt, and action being taken blah blah blah.  Fortunately his mum works for a firm of solicitors, and their advice is a contractual perk of her position there, so one of the solicitors pens a equaly nasty letter reminding them that their cast-iron contract says payment will be made within 28 days of the kitchen being completed as per the drawings.  Oh dear, about as much chance of that happening as Satan skating to work!

Funny though how the big companies back down when you are prepared to challenge them, as quite often they ignore our legal rights in persute of their profits.
