does this have anything to do with the 5p rise in fuel since last week? my bank account really cannot take any more fuel rises  :evil:

Probably, it's proffitering or the yanks call it gouging.

It was a serious imprisonable offence during WWII.  See, not everything is progress :(

Quite right. There is absolutely no way that the price increases in the last few days can be a reaction to global prices. It can only be getting ahead of the game and making some extra profit while they can.

I do remember last time there were serious fuel shortages a local garage tried selling at £10 a gallon. He hasn't been able to sell fuel since. Nobody will go near him.
