Best TV Car adverts ?!
« on: April 21, 2008, 09:16:09 »
I was thinking of the Top 10 car adverts (anyone ever done this on TV/Mag?) and diddt get enought to make a 10!

Landrover winch/dam advert, HAS to be No1

Pegeaut 306 Dancing Robot, very good concept for the intended market
Freelander "let them free", Loved it
SAAB Quary advert (a saab hammering round a dark/moody slate quarry, engine sounding rally car like, heads over a cliff aqnd turns into a Saab Viggen fighter) http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=yDnQ8wxzyD8
VW "If only everything in life" with the girl in the fir coat who has just dumped bloke, totally 80's

Cant think of any others that stand out?

CORNISH SPRINT AND HILLCLIMB CHAMPION 2009

Lotus Elise (Tuned/lightened for sprint racing Championship winner 2009)
Freelander 1 TD4 Auto AKA the Big Black Bus (Brownchurch Roof Rack, Hatch Bag rear liner)
Ferguson T20 "Grey Fergie" TVO Tractor 1951

In terms of technical difficulties & sheer perseverance in sorting it out, it's fascinating

how about this one

I was about to post that one, good job I checked!

Pleasant change to see Citroen playing to their strength - the hydro-pneumatic system means they can just keep going when the road stops. Anyone who has seen Ronin can attest to this.

It wasn't fake, it was take 600 or something that actually worked.  You'd have thought they'd have given up long before that.  Apparently theres a film on the same lines called "the way things go", the add is a spin off of that.

The resion the wheels roll up hill is because they have weights on the back of them so when pushed off centre they roll with force, enough to overcome gravity on a gradient - notice they don't turn (or are required to turn) more than 180° though, as that wouldn't happen very well.

I think VW Golf adds tend to be the best, so much choice, heres some of the best themes we never got...

Not so sure about the VW South africa adds, but I like the bus.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4nhR7LW3EFI

I read somewhere that VW's advertising budget is quite a bit less than many big brands in the UK, which surprised me a bit as they always seem to come up with great themes.  The current day in the life adds growing on me too.

How about the 'scary ones', like the Citroen blowing a tyre, as it passes between the 2 opposing trucks

Was the advert for the GS???
