I like it!

I would really like a Hilux double cab, but as you say, they hold their money well, far better than Surfs.

Your mock up certainly gives me food for thought...

Hmmm....  that Surf I was thinking of buying would look good with the back chopped off...

Trouble is.  I always thought I would end up with a canopy on the back of a double cab so I had some secure storage space.  Can't imagine you would find a canopy to fit the chopped Surf.  Plus, chop a Surf to put a canopy on the back anyway???  Just keep the original back on I guess...

I reckon it looks really good. And great PhotoShop effort too!!

The scary thing is i am with mark chopping the back off .......Mark (surfenstein ) is in the red overalls and i have the grey ones.

there is alot of renforcing at the pillar behind the rear seats that needs modding before the window section can be welded back

im going to be doing mine slightly different im going to move the whole tailgate forwards keeping the electric window mech, and get another one for the tailgate at the rear, have you put any extra strength into the roof or just the pillars? dont suppose you know where i can get a 2" body lift? the guy from the forum doesnt seem to make them anymore i found this on ebay but not sure if its the usual tat or not...? also its only 1.5" :(

Speak to tonyn www.4x4toys.co.uk about the body lift . Also the vagrants (on the surf site ) live in norfolk i think and they might be able to help you . I also would suggest that you contact mark via the surf site about renforcing as i was not able to help him with the rebuild . he did look at making the rear window work but didnot for some reason in the end . i think you will need a second tailgate to weld in to house it

Oh and here is another couple of good places for information
