Guide dogs and blind people ?

How do  blind people pick up the guide dogs poop ?

Does the dog bark like mad as the blind person gets closer to the poop, or do they just leave it for other blind people to tread in  !

This has been bugging me for days.

Hopefully someone on here can clear this up so to speak.

I've never really given it much thought, but maybe they train the dog to only ever go in the same place?

Couldn't you just train it to use a traditional French toilet and be done with it?

I though that they might be trained only to poop in one place or go on command but what if the blind guy is on holiday or they swap dogs with another blind guy.
Next time i see a blind guy and his dog I'll stop and ask them.

Interesting question - I think!
we have a friend thats been blind since birth, suppose we could ask him, mind you hes only ever had 1 dog - as it took him 4 weeks to train the dog how to get to his local pub  :lol: he could walk it on his own in 10 minutes - with the dog it took him 20 with all the stopping at crossings etc. :lol:

:lol: best part is - he didnt even ask for, or want , a dog -  do gooders suggested he had one, even though he had coped for 25 years on his own, including travelling to and from school on his own, same with college and eventually when he found a job too.
I love his philosophy tho'....just because i'm blind - doesnt make me a liability

I had a neighbour when I was growing up that was blind. She had a compound in the back garden that she took the dog to as required and it did both bits in there and ONLY in there. It never went while they were out and about! Damn clever dog!

Then every so often we or one of her family would go out and clear it with a shovel.

 Well it is believed that the other senses are more acute when blind so maybe the blind person smells it out. . . . . .so next time you think a blind person has fallen over leave them alone coz they are cleaning up. :lol: :lol:

I must admit there is a lot of random stuff rattling around in there at the moment.

I'm not happy with this crap on command idea, what if the pooch is constepated or cant go if someone is watching, or would the dog poop if a blind guy was watching..... ohhhhh its gets worse..........

i was going to e mail the guide dog training school but would they take it seriously, i doubt it.

My pooch only poops i one spot, but if i was blind i wouldnt like to feel around for it.

Yes, guide dogs are trained to poop on command ('busy busy' is the phrase taught round these parts). If the dog is ill, the owner knows. If anyone else handles the dog, the command is exactly the same - most of the time the dog will go to an experienced and approved home whilst the 'owner' is on hols.

Lets consider the subject closed, eh?  ;)
