Disco 1 Spoiler?
« on: May 07, 2008, 15:57:06 »
I was perusing the RAVE CD recently and came across a rather odd set of instructions: Fitting a spoiler to a Disco 1

The part in the diagrams looked a bit like the ones on Pajero Evos, sitting on the trailing edge of the roof and apparently held on with glue. Has anyone ever seen one of these? Did they even make them? I've never seen one on the road or noticed them listed on any spares sites hence my slight bewilderment. There was also a front skirt thing and some sculpted sill covers mentioned, again, never seen those.

No I am not planning to get one. Not unless it's stupidly cheap anyway!

Seen them in magazines. They look quite good but probably don't work though!

Funny. I used to listen to loads of RAVE cd's, and never heard these instructions. Only put my hands in the air, and blow my whistle. :)

Sorry.

I thought the spoilers fitted to 4x4's were to redirect air down over the rear window to clear it of water and road grime.

I don't have one fitted and still have 2.5 tons of down force ;)

I've knew of a couple of D1's with rear spoilers. They had nothing to do with aerodynamics and increasing downforce but they did keep the rear window clear of spray and muck in rainy conditions. Not cheap though  :)

yes i see one the other week and thought why oh why but it had full body kit n and i assumed it was land Rovers attempt at the Pajero Evo Rallyart, it would be ripped or in seconds down lanes or off road sites

Sounds as though the locals hereabouts weren't swayed by bits of stick-on plastic then! I was thinking it might have some benefits in terms of keeping the rear window clean rather than anything else.

It might be ok on lanes, if you look at it branches would probably tend to slide over it rather than catching and ripping it off?
