Insurance rip off!

I insured my Landy 90 with Lancaster for the year last november at a cost of £155. I cancelled the policy on April 7th as I sold the Landy the day before. That means that I had the car insured for just slightly over 5 months and what did I get back from them - £12.77.

Now I know that there are administration costs to be covered but that is a complete rip off.

Sometimes it easier and more cost effective to transfer the insurance on to another car, even if it's one that doesn't belong to you and you may have only used on third party ins. in the past. (like I do from time to time with my Dad's Disco)

I did that too. Sold my car and wanted to cancel. Changed my insurance to TPFT for Dad's Postman Pat van and was refunded a lot more than cancelling.

£50 admin charges when i switched my insurance over,I asked them what it covered they said for printing a new certficate :doh:

Think yourself lucky, when I went to renew with them my policy had risen from £200 to £900 with no changes. Just inflation they said, I changed insurance and then had a 9 month battle for my no claims bonus as they would not give me the year I had been with them as it is in house only (so I would have to go back to them if I wanted it) apperently this only applies if you bought the policy over the internet WHICH i DID NOT, they are *********. Luckily the insurance ombudsman was on my side and my current insurer had heard of their tactics so waited for my no claims discount without costing me anymore :D

I had insurance on the wifes car with AA insurance .

when we came to renew at the end of the year we noticed that we only had third party only cover but we'd payed for fully comp.

The AA said that the company we were insured with through them had folded and as a curtesy they had GIVEN us third party out of good will  :shock: :shock: for the last 5 months :shock: :shock: of the cover without telling us.
After complaining a lot we got nothing from the AA and No apology ,Oh but I did get  a new insurance company :twisted:

AA insurance are a doggy rip off...

I'm with the AA for the Polo that the wife uses. I thought last time I would look round but was way too busy. That's not to say I'm happy with thier policy.

The Disco is due on 25th of this month and I have been quoted £348 f/c. That is with Lancaster and they say that the insurer I was with is no longer available so they have come up with this policy!

I think I will have to have a little look round!

I'm 43 and by the time I have insured the vehicles I have I am over a grand!

I can only put my backside in one at a time so why do I need to insure everything seperately!

Have any of you tried "YES" insurance, I have my 3.0 V6 Shogun with them for £298 fully comp for me and the wife which is pretty good.

it is worth phoning around all the companies in the landie mags , they know what we nee and the prices are ok :D

That's where I found the Lancaster one for last year.

But as I said the insurer no longer exists so I think I will have a little look round rather than just take what is offered first off!

Over the last two days I have had a nosey round for a better quote.

Some were worse, but Arain Flux came in at £289 fully comp but the XS was £200 and recovery was another £45!

So I phoned Lancaster and they came back with £304 fully comp with £100 XS and recovery included!

Guess they get my money for another year then!!

Fully Comp, including SWMBO, Protected NCB, £150 Compulsory Excess, £70 Compulsory Windscreen Excess, £3000 agreed value, annual premium £220, nuff said.

I'm with NFU, Flux and Esure. The SC is insured with Esure and it is just over £300 - and that was insured for full "as new" value! Piglet is with Flux and is currently costing about £450 .. go figure. Sometimes I wonder where they get the figures  :shock:

We just moved to cape own (I married a South African).

I am insuring the same RR (We shipped it) and a much bigger house for less than it cost to insure either in the UK in a rural area.

Explain that?
