Record Milage
« on: May 13, 2008, 13:34:19 »
Was speaking to my father last night who has just booked his Disco in for a service and I think he's probably pushing the limits of silly milage...

393,000 at the moment, on a 300tdi with the original gearbox, engine etc ..

Can anyone top it ?

our 1st 300 Tdi was on 253,000 when we sold that, thought that was going well... very rare to hear of anything over 250k these days...mind you hubby can remember when Ford had the 100,000 mile club ;)

Not Land Rover (although Series motors have probably gone round the clock many times ) but my father's Merc is heading for 260,000 miles now and still going strong.

I have seen a Disco at 300,000 or so miles once at my previous place of work.

Your kidding me?

Mine's at 210,000 on the original gearbox (3rd clutch and 2nd transfer box mind you, but the g/box hasn't been touched). First headgasket, too. Nice to see I've still got many years to go before I come close to Daz's record!

My Disco 200 is still a pup at 140k.

Only thing I've had to do is a new clutch. It didn't need it but the fork arm went, and while your in there!

393k  a real credit to its owner for looking after it so well

my 1997 90 has 107k on it, so its barely run in!

and my 17 month old golf already has 62k on it.

Just turned 140k in my 300Tdi disco... its had a new clutch (wasn't knackered, but went to morocco so changed it before I left) but still on original engine/head gasket/ gearbox/ transfer box/ diffs

I change the engine oil every 4K, and am pretty anal when it comes to servicing....

oh, and its been running on a mix of SVO and diesel since I bought it two years ago (had 100K on the clock when I bought it)

We're gonig down to Spain in it this summer so it'll have cracked 150k by Christmas....

It was a 1987 110 V8, my first car, i learned to drive in it!  I i bought it from the british geological survey who had it since new, i got a massive stack of reciepts and service records etc. including 2 recipts for brand new LT85 gearboxes fitted. and the gearbox in it was on its way out, i sold it when the syncro on 2nd started playing up. fantastic vehicle though.
