will the fairey overdrive from a series 3 fit my 90 with lt77 gearbox and if so is it worth it?

In a word NO

Sereis 3 box and LT77 totally different as far as I know only the fancy expensive overdrive withh fit a 90 box.

It's not going to fit.

If functional they fetch anything from £200 to £400 depending how ebay if feeling, they sell wdll to the European markets - germany - france. Mine fetched quite a bit more than I paid for it and some guy in Germany came over to collect :D So if you can get one cheap - then do so and sell it on.
