Keith, It might be worth jacking up one rear wheel again, this time with the handbrake off, and the transfer box in nuutral, then spin the wheel, this would then spin the planet gears in the diff itself, and also run the pinion around the crownwheel, doing this will if it's broken, result in grounching type noises......I had one read diff go, when it chewed a few teeth off the crownwheel, and i managed to do a whole days trialing with it broken, it didn't even have any oil in it, as the bits had smashed their way out of the bottom of the diff pan!!
