Scam alert (subtle one)
« on: May 17, 2008, 16:30:47 »
Had this come through one of the more subtle ones but A) Bad grammer, B) Why would they want to know about our products if they were refered C) We are a consulting firm so unless they expect me to put one of our consltants in a box and post it to london they are not going to get very far!

It is definitley the least obvious scam I have seen (they realize that Mr Gumabo of wagga wagga land is not the most UK sounding business prospect)

I've heard of a few of these now, one computer review site I know of in particular gets lots of them as they don't seem to have twigged that he's reviewing the kit rather than selling it!

I've seen a fair number that do this. HSBC for example won't give you a number for your local branch now, only their callcentres. Something of a joke as in my recent experience the local branch were a lot more useful than the callcentre in a crisis (stolen card details).
