F.A.0 any police on here
« on: May 19, 2008, 19:30:42 »
Got some iranian's living nextdoor now we know the lady in the house is learnng to drive and going off what i have seen of her driving skill still needs more lessons. but the other day we saw her drive her car on her own without "p" plates. Now there is no way she could of passed her test yet. So knowing if she has not passed her test it means she has no insurance and going off her driving skill i shudder to think what may happen. So thinking of informing the police of her. I have been in touch with the police before about these people next door due to late night meeting with other lads and some older men and strange going on's. To be told by the police that they are watching them anyway. So di i tell or will the police think i am been racist against them as i have been intouch with them before.

I'm not a policeman but my opinion is it don't matter where there from if you know or even think they are driving illegally with no licence and therefor no insurance then you should tell the police as you never know if something happens it may not be someone you know but it will be someboy Else's family or friend

If you honestly believe this person is committing a crime and/or is a danger to others, you should tell the Police. They'll be able to check with the DVLA whether a full license or test pass has been recorded.

So best not to say this police man i know told me to do it ;). Would not try it with my luck anyway as i would probley end up crashing into her and it would be my fault.

Cheers for the info. will be ringing the local officer up and passing on what i know.

after watching hours of TV cop shows I think I doesn't matter if the boys in blue do a dam good job and catch them red handed

The courts will give them bail (if they turn up at all) then they disappear  only to take on a new name and resurface somewhere else

they should kick them out as soon as they catch them .

And NO I'm not racist I'm a patriot who is hacked of with incomers humping the system

I was in Cheshire oaks shopping at Christmas when I over head two women talking in an eastern European accent then a few seconds latter one of them leaves the shop with about ten items of clothing straight off the rail .I tell the shop girl what had happened and she says they are always in here doing it theres nothing we can do as the courts let them go with a warning and they just come straight back

Deport them!

When I worked in a certain seaside town, that shall remain nameless to protect the person concerned, there were two ladies of Middle Eastern extraction who were brought in for shoplifting. They started going on about their rights, so the custody sergeant asked them what happened to thieves in their country. They replied that the hands would be cut off.
He then gets a black permenant marker pen out and draws broken black lines across their wrists, with the words 'cut here' underneath.
They then panic!
Needless to say they didn't come back to that town again.

Agreed the courts are crap, however please do not tar every person from Eastern Europe, every person of Middle eastern origin with the same  brush.

My Wife is from Eastern Europe and works bloody hard, as do most. My Friend is from Iran and has lived here for 50 years, now retired he worked hard as well.

Not everyone is a scammer and a crook.

Every criminal who is a foreign national, and is convicted of an offence in the UK, should be deported back to their country of origin.
We have enough of our own to deal with.
Sorry mate, didn't mean to cause offence :(

Doesn't matter. If she doesn't have a full license then it's an offence and she's just as likely to run over a child on the pavement as on the street.

And as far as I remember ... the footway is still part of the public highway... she can shuttle it up and down her drive as often as she likes... but the minute one wheel touches the pavement, she has commited an offence. Course... if no-one's there to see it...

Indeed. I couldn't agree more with that comment. It is becoming all the more common for the likes of the Daily Mail and Daily Express to come out with jingoistic bullcrap, that seems to inflame those that still live in the age of the Raj and Empire.
It has an unhealthy ring of a certain European country in the 1930's about it.
As I've said before numerous times, I do not have a problem with anyone in this country, providing they play by the rules, pay their taxes and behave like decent people.

Wasn't there a law brought in that if there is direct access to the public highway you can still get done for driving illegally on private land ???

I think it was brought in for control on festivals and new age travelers , But it affected a lot more ..

It meant we had to have maned locked gates at bike rallys so people could ride their bikes around the showground without a helmet .Locked gates meaning there was no direct access ..I don't think it was used much it was just there if needed....

There was something brought in to deal with it, hence supermarket carparks, that are private land, are now classed as Public under the Road Traffic Act. I don't know how that would cover private driveways though.

As far as I'm aware, the law was changed to deal with stuff like accidents, allegations of careless driving and such like.
