Janet Street-Porter

I've just seen Gordon Ramsey's F word tonight, with Janet Street-Porter, darling of the Ramblers Assoc on it. She was filmed driving a Landrover Disco3! Hmm, hypocrite is tha word that springs to mind!

The sad part is that she wouldn't see the hypocrisy in this - as far as she's concerned she drives the evil 4x4 to a car park then spends the day doing eco-friendly rambling (never mind the CO2 emissions of the helicopters they were using to repair Snowdon...).

Volunteers to invite her on a Mud Club laning trip?

Anyone?

She's no different to the rest of the sanctimonious pillocks that are the Ramblers Association, when we were repairing Gatescarth Pass earlier in the year mainly for the benefit of them, not one of the ones who scrambled past us offered to help and I gather that's par for the course for most of them.

Me i just hate them and their stupid stupid Lecci poles that are destroying the Fells !

Would those be the spring-loaded poles for "Nordic Walking"?

Saw a fair few people with them in the Black Forest a couple of years ago - they looked complete and utter wallies striding confidently along the pavement with a pair of poles!

If we were to moan and whinge half as much as they do about rights of access and the state of repair of some routes we'd lose the lot overnight.

We all drove past her house near Pateley Bridge on Sunday and gave her a little wave (with 2 fingers !).

Those are the stupid things, much loved for scaling the heights of Ambleside High Street and cluttering up the coffee shops ! The problem with them is that they hole the surface, water gets in and erosion starts times that by a few thousand ! but of course that's nothing compared with a few 4x4s is it

That's a tad worrying as everyone seems to be selling cheap ones of late, so I expect to see rather more of them as fashion accessories. I am contemplating buying a pair...to use as puddle depth gauges!

They do have a valid reason, there design to reduce the stress and weight on your knees. But like most things they are now more of a fashion statement than actually required.

Personnaly I blame that wainwright bloke for informing people about the moors, dales and lakes. If he had kept quite, then the ramblers army wouldn't know where to walk outside of their own areas. He went and spoilt it for the rest of use.
