Can anyone tell me what is a decent price for a lpg system to fit onto a Disco V8.  A friend is looking to purchase a kit.  Any recommendations

i payed 11oo quid for 2 3ol tanks under the sills 4 yrs ago , boot tank is roughly 900 quid fitted

Depends an awful lot on tank configuration, lots of choices on Discos.  One, two, ... five ... keep original petrol tank or replace with smaller .. etc.

Also depends on engine system type, you can get away with cheapo mixer-type systems on some 3.9.  But I wouldn't recommend it, as they're always a bit prone to backfire and it gets worse as they age.   Best to go for an injection system, definitely for a 4.0, but they cost more naturally  :roll:

I agree i had an lpg in my old 3.5 v8 it made it slow starting, missfire, random stalls when coming to a stop your engine will wear and tear alot more, i would reccommend sticking with it as it is plus need to be checked every year and very few garages will touch it, thats my opinion i woundn get lpg again but, yes you can pick up for 900-1500 depending on tank size and where you get it done  :lol:

Well, I've had my 3.9 venturi system since March 1999 and only needed to change the Landi vapouriser for an OMV unit last Summer, I suggest the more frequent backfires, rough running, and cutting out that others have experienced might have been due to worn vapouriser components more than the minor capacity change of what is basically the same engine.

Backfires are usually attributed to changeover from petrol to gas on the rise of revs, when most venturi systems will not backfire  if changeover occurs on the fall of revs.  This is a minor set up fault at installation, but it seems a lot of people live with this potentially distructive set up.

Yes, I'd like a Prins system, yes extra tanks, but I've lived with it as it is for nine years and I can live with it like that for a couple more yet.

sorry to say i think 3.5 v8i are not smooth on unleaded plus mines cost a quid a mile to run  :cry: . must have done 40,000 miles on lpg without any serious problems . think mines the tartani 97 system . yes u do lose a bit of the pure sound of a v8 on lpg but mine apears to be alot smoother i dare say an auto v8 would be even better.

cheap conversion our death traps , check  and engine in tune help other that that job done
