Hi all
Have this massive plow on the back of the disco, wont ever use it and it is the biggest bit of steel work i have seen on a disco. Bolts etc wont undo is it safe to grind the bolts of between the diesel fuel tank and chassis, or will it go up in flames?

Remember the tank is plastic so keep the disc from hitting it as it won't take much to cut through.
might be better using a nut splitter.

If the nut's on the tank side, use a nut splitter if you can get one in there, to save risking damage to the tank.
If the nut's on the outside, I'd use a grinder to remove the nut, then knock the bolt through half an inch or so, so you can use the grinder to grind through the shaft of the bolt and take the head off. That way, the head protects the grinder from slipping into the tank. IIRC on mine the bolt had been inserted from the tank side, although I have no idea how they'd done that unless it was put in with the tank removed. :?

I used a grinder to get mine off, no problems. But as has been said don't touch the tank with the disc!

The nut is on the tank side, the build is as follows, chassis, spacer (assume to be steel), tow bar frame, securing nut for towbar then tank, frame is angle so it is difficult to get nut splitter in gap. :'(
May try and cut through spacer, have 1.5mm cutting discs so 'should' make fairly quick work of it. may attempt Monday. :(
