« on: May 27, 2008, 01:19:04 »
Just got a disco1 everything was fine when i got it with regards to engine gearbox ect...
but a couple of days ago i noticed that coming from 1st to 2nd was a bit difficult some times i
really had to jiggle it about to get it in.
and today i had issues getting into first..

Sounds like either 1st/2nd gear syncro or a clutch issue.Does the clutch feel like it is operating o.k,can you select reverse gear o.k?If you try changing from 1st to 2nd at low revs does it go in o.k?

Try a oil change in the box first. Uses ATF or you could change to the later MTF-94 and try that.

Hmm well it seems ok apart from it bites abit lower. Reverse is similar to getting into second and yea has more of an issue with it at low revs.
can a worn clutch display these symptoms?

If the clutch is biting low then it would be worth checking the clutch fluid level, if it is low have a look for signs of a leak. You may need to remove the slave cylinder from the bellhousing to check that.If the fluid level is o.k then it could be the famous clutch fork fault which will mean removing the gearbox :'(

hope it is just a fluid leak [-o<
