Well thats how it started with me, a 125 for work, I've saved a fortune. But the bike bug has bitten me, I'm thinking about a Honda Hornet or Suzuki Bandit, but are not too sure, no rush I still have my 125 for the moment.

Both good bikes.

I have ridden a hornet and to me they felt physically small. The Bandit feels bigger. You will just need to go and put your bum on them.

I'll agree to the above Hubby had a Bandit 600 2004 and that was a fantastic bike, Had a hornet when his went in for service and he hated it!
Bandits are great capable bikes that are also very forgiving for a newbie ;)

I recover bike seats for the local bike shops (used to be an upholsterer) and I have recovered loads of hornet seats and they have all been owned by Ladies...

I must admit that the people that have Hornet that I know are female.

When my 1500 went in for service they gave me one to use. I did find it under powered, but no real surprises there, and a little small, but I thought at the time for a first step into the big bike world it wouldn't be too bad. Dependant on how big you are.

The Bandit, although made down to a price is a damned good machine and has a much more big bike feel, both power wise and physically.

And as they have been around forever there are loads of people doing stuff for them.

and abuse the dealers and get as many test rides as you can

I went down the A2 restricted to 33bhp for 2 years, it was cheaper. I could have gone DA as I am 38, but I figured it would stop me from going bonkers and buying a crazy bike!

I do like the Bandit, nice looking and a proven design.

You will have to have a restricted one though they are about because they are popular!

Pux, the V-Twin route! Oh I agree. Got two of them. The old CX 500 and a VN 1500. Just love the low down torque. The 4 cylinder multi I have is totally different to ride, a lot 'buzzier' and it can get you into trouble very quickly.

The VN is fast but is happy sat at low speed, the XJR just wants to be over the horizan! God their fun!!

Well done mate, you're a braver man than I am. Its not that I don't trust my own capabilities, I don't trust other road users,especcially down here.
Cycling into work is bad enough, they seem to see me as target. Saying that, my reaction times have increased, I can now brake and 'flip the bird', and swear at the same time quite quickly.

congrats mate. go for a bandit, thats what i've got. i brought mine last year after about 9 years not riding. it all came back to me just like 'riding a bike'! mine is a streetfighter. lovely looking she is. not used it much since last year - other commitments, same really. if i can i'll post photos. i've tried before but with no luck.
cheap insurance to. last year Â£85.
