Anyone know anything about ovens . . . ?

We have a built in Whirlpool double oven and today when you turn on the bottom, main, one the light comes on and the fan spins, but it doesn't heat up.

Now I'm assuming that it's the elements that have gone, but how do I test the theory?  I really can't afford to spend £400 on a new one so really need to fix the one we have.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Well seeing as you own a landy you are blessed with some mechanical know-how  :lol:

Pull the oven out and drop a multi meter on the element , if there is no continuity through it then its busted. Ours went and was about 30ish quid for a 1500w one.

It may be the thermostat, I used to have a Leisure double oven and this happend to it as well, a simple call out to "The Oven Man" soon had it sorted.

Or I could say whats an oven, and be very unpc haha

I think your more than halfway there as you know its getting mains supply.

I suppose it could be a controller,but as the element is likley to be inexpensive its worth buying one and fitting it to test.

The titlereminds me of a joke,

The element on our oven goes about every 18 months, must be her cooking that does it, on this one you take out about 8 self tapping screws to remove the back plate, then two more for the element and then two spade connectors, that's it put it all back and get a nice hot dinner.

Parts are about £10-12 on ebay.

Did as you suggested Gav and it was the element.  New one arrived yesterday courtesy of eBlag and works a treat.  Note made in back of mind for next time  :dance:
