Am in the middle of fitting a set of extended wheel arches to my 5 door disco, (well quarter of the way through actually just finnished the N/S front.
I have a question for those of you that have fitted these before, what do you do with the inner wheel linner ? I was thinking of leaving it off as it would make cleaning under the arches easier what do you think???
mine is an XS model and has the fat side trim which has made it a bit of a job as ive had to trim the arch to fit over the side trim.
plus, ive had to trim back the rock sliders and the trailing edge of the bumper (H/D winch type) as they both protruded past the arches.....oh poo nothing is easy..will get the hole in the leading edge of the sliders welded up tomorrow.

oh and talking of welding now ive taken the linner out I can see that pretty soon Iwill have to do some welding on the N/S inner wing rats rats rats, I will put it on the to do list.....

right its just stopped raining so might tackle the other side, then only the rears to do !!!!

i just left mine out and welded up the holes i found one of which was under the wiring loom!

Yea thats what i thought i would do, by the state of my inner sills looks like im going to buy a mig welder and start learning ???

Ive done both fronts and one of the rears, my god the doors were a pain to do....

Hi, yes I took some pics, at the moment Ive got the two front ones on and one rear one!!! looks abit wierd.
Im going to do the last rear on saturday and will post some pics when im done. But doesnt look to bad so far.

Snap I've just done 3 corners of mine tonight.

Not a difficult job at all really, a bit scary when you're chopping the rear door about but I like how it looks now.

Got mine all finnished the other night, mine was a bit of a pig cause I decided to keep the side mouldings on the car (it is/was an XS model) so had to hand trim the curve on the arches to go over the body trim, rear doors were the least fun due to the double skinning, I used tiger seal to fill the gap on the back doors, just put it in with a filler knife, got it every where!!!!
like the look now though. will try and post some pics when I get to work later on.

I was planning on using loads of silicone sealant and pop rivets from the inside as they wont be seen under the arches.

I had the side trims aswell but ripped them off I just need to clean the sticky bits off now!

Jake it is quite a brutal procedure, as cutting the rear body work is terminal, doors and wings can be replaced but the body cutting at the back is when you know there is no going back!

I'll post some pictures when I've made my chequer plate bits this weekend

Yes I agree ! I did the 2 front wings first, thinking worse case senario if it all goes tits up I can bolt on another front wing easy enough, then moved to the rear door as that could just be replaced if really bad, then moved to the rear body last as by then I should have worked out how to do it !!!.

On my 5dr I threw the inner arch liners away that are in the front, the rear doors I cut using a jigsaw, and then I filled the gap between the inner and outer door skins with that expanding foam, it was a bit tricky, alot fell on the floor at first, I just trimmed off the excess once it had set, at least no crap gets thrown up inside the door though.

I have cut 5 door disco arches before but i've never fitted an arch kit before
