Actually from an engineering perspective the LS400 V8 is not a great engine. In fact its not as refined as many other engines out there. What makes them so smooth and so nice to drive is the extremely technically well crafted engine mounts they use. Now what appeals to me is the American V8 conversions that they did on the Range Rover Classic. I can't for the life of me remember the name now but Clarkson did an iconic Top gear where he whilst towing a ford focus on a trailer beat another ford focus in a 0-60 race in one. Now one of them in a Disco is a nice idea but might be a bit scary with MT tyres :-)was it overfinch ?. i would fancy putting a gmc v8 deisel in my self,,alan
Actually I know a guy who is putting a Range Rover Sport supercharged engine in his classic. I've seen the engine and I know he has the ability to do it. I hate to think what it will go like.
