« on: June 11, 2008, 21:27:49 »
Well  the day has come

The insurance has payed out and the new rear bumper has been ordered and should arrive tomorrow ..

It has been ordered from http://www.bramracing.co.uk/ at a very good price . Very good comunications and have replied to all emails within 24 hours .

so far so good  :D

I have done all the welding work (new body mounts and one patch on the cross member) and given it a good slap of stone chip stuff ready to put it on.

I will hopefully have fitted the little extras I have been planning by weekend and will stick photos on as soon as I can ..

It's like crimbo   I can't wait ,Cause I'm sooooo excited...

Sad in'it

Yeah it is a Disco parts one but it was priced better than many other places  ;)

It arrived today as they said it would and was packed very well...

The service was superb    Bram racing well recommended

as for the bumper ,the fit is a bit poor around the ends, the rear panels don't match the bumper very well and it sits further forward on the drivers side but this could be down to the chassis   ,the welding while solid is a bit messy , but it is a solid bit of kit and I like the reinforcing bracket in the middle.
Over all with a couple of extra tweaks it will look just dandy, the fit around the rear corners will be fixed by adding a couple of chequer plate pads shaped to fit above the reflectors ,and a bolt through the leading edge of the bumper and back edge of the rear wing will pull them into line nicely.(and stop the rear wing flapping in the wind at speed )

I've been thinking of a HD rear bumper for mine, (here comes the) but a few people I've spoken to haven't been happy with the quality of the Discoparts one but do recommend the First Four one which doesn't seem to have the plate in the centre to attach a recovery eye.

In fact one chap has just returned his to Discoparts for a refund.

Don't kill me or anything, but the Scorpion one (while looking just like the Discoparts one) is generally much neater (regarding the welds etc). Just my experience. However I'm not sure what it costs now, cos I bought mine just as they came out.

Yes I agree they are nicely made, I have seen one but they never have prices on their website or adverts?

And some of Scorpions prices have frightened me in the past

i've got a Discoparts one, its a good strong bumper, but I'd agree he ain't gonna win any awards for the neatness of his welding...

And I won't be buying from him again as i was less than impressed with his customer service....

Well the service from Bram Racing was spot on and they did everything perfectly and I will be using them again though they don't sell a lot of stuff ...

The bumper was less than half the price of the scorpian one so I got what I paid for ;) besids the insurance are paying I'm just adding the 20 quid extra for the upgrade

now it's on it dosen't look bad most of the welding is on the inside so you can't see it and it tidy's the back end up nicely... :D
