Those of us affected, and those who just agree should take a few seconds to sign this.

This one seems a bit pointless really; does it really matter if we sign a bit of paper? (Figuratively speaking) in realty I doubt it will do much at all, and we as brits will do as we normally do and shrug our shoulders and say Ah well there is nothing we can do. The British race has lost its backbone unlike the men and women who fought WW2 for us so that we could be free. Now all we do is roll over and take anything the government throws at us and then we thank them for doing it.

I'm confused by your response ...

I'm not going to sign it since it won't do any good, but you hate how people just sit back and accept it  ,,,

err...  isn't that just a good way of annoying yourself ?

Speak for yourself mudlovinghippo. Petitions such as this HAVE made a difference in the not too distant past so what have you got to loose?

You seem to have missed the point datalas I did not at any point say that I would not sign it, I merely stated that it does seem a little pointless,
What the people of England should be doing is as one standing up and telling the government that enough is enough. Perhaps not to the extremes of the French in burning sheep etc, but surely taking part in actual protests! For a number of years now the various governments running the country have subjected the people of Briton to various taxes on our means of transport and we have accepted them with very little protest. Now however it is a tax to far. People that I know are losing there homes because of the cost of living, people are struggling to survive and live, lower paid workers are now being classed as below the poverty line.
And yes Mike142sl I agree that at times a petition is enough and that in a lot of circumstances a petition is all that is needed.
I have spoken to a number of people who keep stating that we should stage a protest as the lorry drivers did a few years ago, but if you ask the vast majority of them if they joined those protests invariably they state “welllllll I wanted to but I was doing my garden that day” or comments along those lines.
We are all affected by the massive fuel prices some people more than others, and perhaps now is the time to tell the government that we cant afford to be taxed any more,
I also think that a great club like the MUD CLUB would be able to perhaps between its various members be able to come up with some fantastic ideas for a protest, among its members is a great array of technical and doubtless strategic planning minds and most of its members are willing to talk about ideas and problems and come up with solutions without resorting to abuse, and along with other various car clubs perhaps form a protest that would make the government sit up and listen instead of Alistair Darling just saying that he would consider not raising petrol tax by another 2p.

Hmmm.... England, funnily enough road duty laws havent been devolved to Scotland or Wales... So are we not worthy of protesting... Not that we havent already been protesting in slow go lorry drives in Edinburgh once a month..... We should all stand united but coments like that seem that some people forget the UK is called the UK for a reason!!!
