Road Tax
« on: June 12, 2008, 23:11:37 »
Hi All
Will the new road tax apply to a 1995 Disco ? I have heard several answers some say it will, others say it won't.
If it's working leave it alone

Ford Ranger is not listed - must be free! Ha ha.

I've heard that if you use a 4X4 for a business - it will cost about £500.00 in tax for the year. Is this true?

Use doesn't come into it.

Pre March 2001 4x4s will remain at £185 - £200 for the year (so I'm happy!), post March 2001 large motors including most 4x4s will be £300 per year (in 2009) and £455 (from 2010)

I have heard a rumour that they are considering a different tax for pre 2001 vehicles that will make it more expensive than post 2001 vehicles to try and force us into buying 'newer' vehicles

That's ridiculous!

2010 it's gonna cost me £455 (assuming it doesn't go up even more before then).

They talk about not wanting inflation to go sky-high ... funny way of controlling it - push up the tax on fuel which pushes up the price of everything else.

Then punt up the price of road tax so the farmers need to push their prices up even more.

If I could get out of this country I would.
