Today I've Bought................
« on: June 15, 2008, 15:55:55 »
I've ordered a new bike this afternoon*

Well, to be honest, it's subject to a proper test-ride, as I was in jeans & boots when I looked at it (going back in morning, in Lycra & look cleated shoes)

Otherwise I hope to get it tomorrow :D

This is what I've 'bought', a Trek Madone 5.2SL, in 'Discovery Team' colours

As much as I like the 2008 equivilant, the difference in price, with the '07 being 'old-stock was too much to ignore

*Well, if the wife can have a new car, and the Madone is almost the same colour, so why not indeed?

Nice isn't it?

Although the new 2008 models do look a lot more..... 'organic', and appear almost to have 'grown', with their flowing shapes

rich
ave this one

its nicer
I'm not too struck on Pinarellos Dyfed.

On the Italian front, I do like Bianchi though, so long as they're in the 'Celeste' colour (their pale green)

Although, asking for an upgrade to the 5.5Pro is very, very tempting.

Where's the <drools> smilie???

The madone is a beautiful bike and I dream of having one. Why are you re-thinking after the proper test drive???? i'm very happy with my Trek 2000 so if it's better then that you should be ok.

I saw somewhere on one of the forums that you raced in Greetland last night??? Although I'm down in Cambridge I was up there on Sunday doing the Pain in the Pennines sportive (combined with visiting my Mum) - are you into these??

We seem to have similar interests. If you're up for it, one day I might throw the bike in the back of the Disco and pop in. Could try out some of your favourite yorkshire greenlanes and bike routes???

Best wishes,

David

David.
First off. Hello
I was my fault, I should have paid more attention to the set-up prior to leaving the shop, os having rode there (on my 14year old Dyna-Tech titanium :)), I felt it was a bit uncomfortable.
Which Madone should I get then??

The reserved (2007) 5.2SL, or a (2008) 4.5, or (2008) 5.5Pro???

I tried to get an entry for the White Rose Classic, but was too late.

The Cyclo-Cross at Greetland is tonight, we start at 19:30.
I think the going will described as 'soft & wet'

I've only seen the 5.2 which is very nice and I only buy last years bikes for obvious reasons.

I signed up for the WRC last year but had drop out as I pulled my back camping the weekend before. This year I was busy that weekend but as well as PiP I did get up for the Kirklees Sportive, which was good fun in spite of the hours of rain.

At the moment I don't know when I'll next be up your way but I'll drop you line when I have some firm plans and maybe we can get out and about.

Best wishes,

David

The Greetland Cyclo-Cross results are up

http://www.yorkshirecyclocross.org.uk/

28th/54 overall (56 starters)
8th/17 (Age-Group)

So, I'm average.... Again

This is what I've 'bought', a Trek Madone 5.2SL, in 'Discovery Team' colours)

I'm not buying it now, as I've decided to wait a bit & get a few more pennies together, and buy a 2008 model instead

Either the 5.2Pro, or the 5.5Pro
