Diff ratios
« on: June 20, 2008, 17:00:56 »
Is a rrc diff the same ratio as a defender diff and can a rrc diff be bolted into the defender axle casing.
I have been informed that it can, just want to check before i do something silly!

I asked at local Landie garage and was told yes and fitted one to my 90, no problems at all.

Is there any other way to check the number of splines other than take the halfshaft out.
It is the front diff so i dont want to strip it to find i have the wrong diff!

96 should be 24 spline afaik.  It takes minutes to pull a rear shaft.......

Can't you just knock of the rear dust cap to see the end of the shaft, the splines that end are the same as the diff end arnt they.
If it moves Funk it, if it stops drive over it.
