Leaky steering box
« on: June 25, 2008, 13:45:08 »
Hi all.

The steering box on my 90 has decided to start leaking. Can anyone tell me how much of a job it is to change the seals. How does it rate on the pig meter eg; 1= little piggy to 10= proper swine.

as always any advice gratefully received

I put some Lucas Oils power steering stop leak in mine and it lasted till the box wore out about another 20k miles.

But the seal replacement can be a pig (10) if the steering drop arm decides to not cooperate, the seal replacement I have on good authority doesn't work in a lot of cases. So you end up having to bite the bullet and replace the lot ! Just done that on my 110 at 150k so not too bad just worn out not leaking though.
