Another brake question
« on: July 02, 2008, 18:08:22 »
Hi
On my 200 Tdi the brake pedal is rock hard most of the time. Sometimes the brakes are OK other times they are almost solid I dont know if its the vacuum pump thats shot or the brake servo. How can i find out.

Try disconnecting the vacume pipe from the servo and see if it sucks air when the engine is running. I depends where the leak is, but I've known servos make an awful noise when the diaphram inside was split so you should be able to hear it if that has happened.
