also, they are not fitted with difflocks, they took the lug off of the gear boxes to mount them on after 2000 so if your doing alot of offroading get a pre 2000.

I've been & had a look at a couple today & have noticed that they all seam to have an oil leak at the back of the engine where it meets the g/box :shock:is this something to worry about & is it easy fixed as I hate oil leaks
What can I say but thanks guy's for all your help :P :P :PHad a look at a X plate TD5 today in the pooring rain  but from the looks of the gear stick & steering wheel it must have been a high miler, 4 almost bald tyres & quiet a bit of rot above the windscreen, back door hinges did'nt look that good & they wanted 7K for it :roll:shame really as it had all the toys :'(
I had a W plate - and that did not have difflock, but it did have the all-important 'spigot' on the top of the transfer case, which meant that I could have fitted one of the after-market kits to enable me to use the difflock - but, I never really found a need for it, the traction control got me out of most problems............all other 'situations' required a tow
i dont think you can see it.there is a date where they took it off(probibly mentioned above) but if you are to buy one that would be one of the first things to do! you thought about tyres?
it is not a job i would want to do put it that way. if your after some ATs we have some on D2 alloys going cheap(sorry i keep trying to sell you stuff!)
Ah, but you can see - although you need to take the inside of the truck apart, but you can feel for it from underneath. Hopefully this link to a page on Ashcrofts website will show a piccie of a LT230 x-fer box, the spigot is the little thing sticking up just above and to the right of the front output flange - there's a far better description on the website.http://www.ashcroft-transmissions.co.uk/part_8.htmlJim
