Building my own 110 - possible?? How much
« on: July 09, 2008, 13:35:22 »
Hello one and all, I'm thinking about building my own 110 from ebay parts and bits and bobs that are lying around, forgetting the sva and registration issues, can someone help me out with this plan??

I'd like to build up a 110 csw with the following spec

Crew cab, late model interior
200tdi
Disco axels (is this possible)
One of those canvas backs- forgive my lack of knowledge (I know disco's well though)

If I was to buy a scrap 200 tdi disco I'd have the engine and axels from that, I'd need a chassis and bulkhead along with all the panels etc, then an interior.

What I'm aiming for is a 110 200tdi csw with a crew cab in riocca red. How much could I possibly do it for?

your best bet would be to buy a knackered 110 csw

new chassis £1400
new bulkhead £200

then put all the bits of the knackered csw onto the new chassis refurbing as you go

also there would be no SVA issues as you'll just be re-chassising the old 110

if you can get a defender 200tdi all well and good but if not you could fit a disco lump in to the existing defender g-box (except if v8??)

ps disco axles would be no good - rear axle isnt rated high enough for a 110 and the fronts are made of cheese when compared with a defender front

wile the engins out its advisable to change the clutch and cam belt as the clutch is a pain in the ass after in fact change everything you can wile the bodys off
