What are the largest tyres you can fit on a standard range and what would you need to do to get 265/75/16s in the arches?

I have 235/85/16's on with NO alteration required.  I think that the 265/75/16's are about the same diameter, maybe a tad smaller, so you should have no problem.

What offset are the wheels you will use?

On one of the RRC at home I had some 7.50-16 tyres, they are abouth the same diameter as a 235/85r16, but a bit narrower. On standard wheels with stiff lift springs fitted they were fine once the steereing stops were atjusted to keey them off the radius arms. However I then got another set of the same tyre on modular wheels which moved the tyres out 22mm each side compared to the previous set. On this combination they did catch a bit on the rear arches and just touched the front arches on articulation.

A Wider tyre would probably catch worse given on the rear it was rubbing partly on the tyres side wall and also note that if you get remoulded tyres, their diameter tends to come oversized compared to a new tyre

265s will catch. 235s on standard rims will probably be ok, as they will tuck up into the arch.
I have 265s on mods, and had to trim the rear arch.

265/70/16 insa turbos catch even with a 4" lift i have cut the arches to the top line of the curve of the flair.
also i had to fit 30mm spacers so the car will have some steering lock.

i have 235/85 tyres on my rangie fitted to a disco rim. i found they touch the inside of the front arch on full articulation. proved by the bit bent upwards a little bit  :roll:

and that is with a three inch lift on. they were ok when i had the standard srings on, only heard them rub once, but they didnt get articulated that much so i cant really comment. i haven't adjusted the lock stops either as they dont need it with these tyres on.

I had to fit a 2" suspension lift to fit 235/85/16 9 (32") to my Rangie & even then it catches off road causing damage to my front wing, only on the one side though.

When I did the research to see what would fit as you are doing now, I was told & also read all over the net that you can't fit a 235/85/16 or 265/75/16 without some sort of lift. I'm not sure how other people have fitted them to a standard Rangie without any problem, especially if you go off road with it. It does depend on what tyre you go for slightly as some mud terrains for instance are more aggressive than others but I wouldn't have thought it would make a lot of difference.

All along I've been planning a 2" body lift to stop the problem of catching & finally going to get it done this week but I have got some 33s coming that's why.......

i've just fitted 35's to the rangie. +3" lift and some rather major arch surgery. just need to take it off road and get it twisting to make sure i have cut the right places!
