Newbie Questions
« on: July 12, 2008, 20:33:07 »
Hello one and all, I promise I will learn as quickly as possible but I'll be asking a few simple questions if I can't find it using the search function.

I will be swapping out my V8 to fit my recon 200tdi.

My main questions are:

Did the V8 come as a 24v? As I have a 24 volt light on my dash - ex hanson vehicle, original V8 CSW
Are the diff ratio's the same for the diesel?
will my 200tdi bolt up to the petrol gearbox? (I know I'll have to weld new mounts on)

Thanks in advance

It will be 12v - they all have the 24v light on the dash
diff ratios will be the same as all other coil sprung landies 3.54
if its a got a LT85/95 gearbox then i dont think it will fit, you'll need a LT77 from a defender

Excellent,thanks for that,

If I remove the engine and box from the truck can I re-use the props or are they a different length?

Also will the transfer box need to be replaced?

t case should be a LT230 as fitted to everything else

if your not planning on fitting huge tyres it may be worth fitting the disco one as it will give you a slightly higher geared high range.

disco t case will bolt straight up to a defender gbox

I think I'll be looking at 265/75/16's.

So is the transfer box I have already on the v8 usuable?

If it is I'll just get a defender box, if not I'll need a new transfer box.

Haha, no problems mate.

I've taken Friday, Monday, Tuesday off work to try and get a good start on this, so I should have the truck in quite a few bits fairly quickly.

So I'll post up a few pics when I get a chance.
