The older engines run cooler and the colours on the gauge are 'calibrated' (loosley applied term) for specific engines. Hence an NA at 84 degrees would be in the red cos normal is for example 78. Easiest way is to swap the temp gauge for one with 'proper' numbers on instead of a colour scheme that isn't calibrated for your engine, although there has been talk of people putting resistors in the cable. Mine (formerly a TD) sits at the end of normal, just before the red and always has.HTHSimon
