Wiper problems/no park and no intermittent.
« on: July 15, 2008, 20:11:47 »
Ive recently bought a discovery and need a bit of help.

the wipers dont park at the bottom of the screen as they should do and has failed the mot on that.
also, on intermittent its just like having them on the first speed, they dont pause at the bottom at all.

ive read about the "park switch" on the motor, would that happen to be the small black thing sitting on the motor? or is it inside as mines held together with rivets.
could that be the problem?

ive checked the red "wiper control unit" (relay?) located in the drivers footwell and it seems to click when i turn the wipers off but they just stop whereever they are most of the time. sometimes theyll carry on like theyre gotta park but end up halfway across the screen.

any pointers are appreciated.

its a 1993 200tdi discovery.

Sorted it out. turns out it was the wiper control unit in the drivers footwell with an intermittant fault. swapped it out for one i nicked from my dads defender and all seems well.
now to sort the tiny bit of welding and itll pass the MOT on saturday morning, then off to billing straight after   :D

cya's there.
