My friend Ned (Daniel Kelly) is the Norfolk Representative for GLASS I was speaking with him last night about it, apparently GLASS are doing something about it but at the end of the day, what can they do? the damage has been done and if/when Clarkson does get a letter he's just going to take the mickey.
I for one would prefer to see more off roading on topgear. but not like that. if to many complaints come in I don't think we will
I remain pretty confident that although damaging it will not be the end of the hobby!

My two penny's worth anyways

why are you not capable of putting one together, that is what i think is great about the 4x4 commuity at the moment every body is winging about something and then say's something should be done blah blah blah but you guessed it they always come out with "who's going to do......" and mark my words if i did not do the job i do i would happly lead from the front and do something about it. But as for Top gear i think we should just get over it as you are just opening it up Mr Clarkson to take the mick out of us like he does the Ramblers

The thing to remember here is that some folk have very high sense of what's right and wrong and some are better at putting things into words, I think the idea was to try to spur on an objection from someone who might be able to put a sentence together and make it sound right.

Mind you I think it would be a waste of time on Jezza, he'd only take the mick anyway.

I'm going to assume the above comment was said in jest, particularly in light of a number of successful prosecutions made for doing just that?

nope, i think if you have permission to ride 20 horses through there (as i know they will have done) then theres nothing wrong with taking a car as well. I would bank on it doing less damage. Add to that the fact that i did not see him crossing any public footpaths or roads, and the fact that he politely opened and shut the gate.

Its certainly not uncommon to see a gamekeeper etc do somthing very similar indeed whilst following a hunt.

Okay. I'll now assume you're being serious

Lets see if this makes sense. If you drive, without permission, on private land, you are commting a criminal offense and risk a whole plethora of fines and punative measures (vehilce seizure etc). Hunts get away with for a host of reasons, gamekeepers generally have permission.

Driving than other than on a byway, without the consent of the landowner isn't 'funny' - its illegal and therefore can't be supported by this forum.

Like I said above, several high profile prosecutions have been made as a result of such behaviour.

it does my head in the whole greanlainging thing even tho i REALLY enjoy it, it seems like everyone has to walk on eggshels around "The Anti's"
when ever you see anyone on a lane you get looked at like shat and it really pisses me off, who cares what they think, its legal so sod them! aslong as your doing nothing wrong they can shove it up there ass, we are aloud to be there as much as they are! until the law changes but until then i just going to enjoy myself laning and make the most of it while it lasts, because matter how we drive it wont make a [!Expletive Deleted!] of difference to them they want us GONE!!!!

top gear was just abit of fun, leave them to it. I think even anyone anti laining would know thats not what greenlaing is about, but maon just because they can

A heartfelt point, but watch the language, please   ;)

However, if folk feel strong enough to complain to the beeb, then let them do so. They have as much right thier say as them that support the programme.

yes, i understand your point and agree that topgear should have put more thought into what they did. But the point i was trying to make is not that there isnt anything wrong with it but that there shouldnt be anything wrong with it. We do it all the time, say you lose a few cows out of a dodgey gate, so you jump in the landy and you go scouting round for your cows. Its a spread out but still quite intimite community and the chances are you know the local land owners very well, and you know that they dont give a toss about you looking for your stock in their fields. Now often you have to drive up on to the moors to find your stock, i dare say you not supposed to by law but what else are you supposed to do? if the cows are walking faster than you can then your not getting anywhere on foot!

Its all very well someone in a city somewhere making laws saying that you cant drive somewhere just because some selfish people want to walk it purely for the good of their health (even though nearly every main road has a perfectly good pavement you can walk on that hasnt been erroded by vehicles) but what happens to the people who need to drive it occasionally?

So if walkers can walk on vehicular rights of way and claim that the vehicles are annoying them so they must be banned then if we drive on old footpaths can we say that walkers keep clogging up out sump guards so they must be banned?

It all comes down to tolerance in the end, i dont mind slowing down or whatever for a dog walker, but they never seem keen to move over for me.

I'm quite happy with it being illegal, as it stops people going where they want, when they want.

If there's cows going stray, I can imagine that the neighbours might be quite pleased for 'em to rounded up (personally, I prefer doing it on foot, but thats me). However, try asking these neighbours if they mind someone wheelspinning across there land for no reason, 'cos I tell you what, they sure as hell wouldn't want me doing it.

And many, many farmers and landowners feel exactly the same, hence prosecutions and compensation being paid.

Much as though a thought provoking point has been raised, my point still stands, this club cannot be used to promote something as fun when it is a criminal activity.
