Thanks folks, it is appreciated when thanks are expressed. It makes it all that little bit more worthwhile.

It never ceases to astound me with the reactions of the ungrateful, e.g, we attended a woman going berserk and cutting herself with a broken bottle. Her lower legs were like mincemeat. We get there, she is still armed, we restrain and disarm her, while she is trying to have a pop at us and the ambulance crew, and her ex hubby wamts to complain about excessive force by us as 'there was no need for Police to attend as she was trying to open a bottle of wine with out a corkscrew and accidentally broke the bottle'!  I think he has seen the flashing pound signs.

On the flip side, we got a call to a stolen car, so we hid up, watched it go by, followed it, but unfortunately they clocked us, dumped the car and did a runner.
We call out air support and the 'Land Shark Unit (see BTM's post), and got the two players! Excellent! The Boot of Justice stamps again!
We get two bad guys locked up (one of whom had an offensive weapon on him) and the lady gets her car back undamaged and we get a big thank you :D

Thats what makes it all the better!

So, thanks again to all you folks out there for the vote of confidence. It is appreciated, even though we do seem like a miserable bunch sometimes.

Nice to see the Coastguard getting a mention there as well

All to often we are the "forgotten" 999 service, and people often get mixed up between us and the Lifeboats, as well as there being confusion about what the Full time Coastguards do as opposed to the Coastguard Rescue Service who are all basically volunteers.

If anyone wants clarifaction on who does what then you only have to ask :D

Being a complete coward as far as water is concerned, any volunteer for that kind of work gets my full thanks. I sure as hell wouldn't do it, let alone for free! Got to be mad! Mind you saying that, most of the LB and CG chaps I knew in Norfolk were slightly touched. Good bods though, and very handy to have behind you when in a pub fight when you are the only cop there to deal with it.
All were glad to 'assist the local Constable in the execution of his duty' and unleashed upon the visiting yobs! Hee hee hee! Much fun was had, except by the yoblets that got 'arrested'. Didn't help them that one of the the local magistrates had connections to the Lifeboat!

I appreciate them much more now!!
