I upset a group of Ramblers today.
« on: August 07, 2008, 22:16:29 »
With this:

I was driving along a main road & a group of Ramblers were walking along the footway towards me.
I did give them a wide berth, but they all decided to dive into the hedge when they saw me coming. Possibly due to the dual wheel set up on the rear, the howling from the tyres & the sheer size of the thing.

there is no way on gods earth they could give you grief, after all more often than not they are walking on your land even though its public, its better to be nice to a farmer than p1$$ him off, especially if there was a muck spreader fully laden or even better, a lime spreader

I stayed on a working farm in wales this year and the framer told me a great story of six ramblers.
They parked on his land in his farm yard so he put the bucket of his old jcb 6" above one of the cars bonets and carryed on with his work and at about 7pm just as he was started his tea they knocked on his door to ask him to move the jcb.
Now because they never said sorry for parking in his yard without asking,he took his time eating his tea then had a beer in front of the tv and had a nice bath and at about 9pm moved the jcb out there way.
He told me that they get a lot of 4x4 owners staying with them and generly finds them friendly but ramblers get on his t**s.

Now this is a "Proper Job" (Ooh I do love my job at times  :D)

It's our latest 'project'.
It was a Clayton 4105 4wd, 4 wheel steer crop sprayer. We have stretched its chassis, fitted wide forestry wheels & tyres & we're in the process of fabricating the box body which will also have folding sides fitted to the body that you can see. The sides will fold out to increase the floor size when it's in the field.
We'll fit a folding boom at the front which carries an endless chain system fitted with stainless steel bowls that will run inside.

What's all this for.......harvesting & packing Lettuce.

These ramblers definately upset this farmer - pics taken April this year near the top of Tenterhill

Would have loved to have seen their faces, as they'd parked off the road, but directly in his field!

Funny isn't it, these bobble hatted 4x4 owners could have had their motors seized for driving off a public RoW, if only the farmer had reported them for obstructing his muck spraying due to their illegal parking as well.
