Stickies......do we need five?

Do we really need five stickies at the top of this section?  Couldn't they all be put into one?  (Please?)  I have to scroll down to read even the newest 'real' thread.

i dont think it would be wise as people will not know to look in there for any new stickies that might apear and also they are there so you can see them not to be hidden away in the back and forgotten

im sure admin will be along soon to agree either way

there are two titled guidelines, and the location one could be sent to the people's pm inboxes cos they are more likely to read them than stickies

swearing could also be set in the rules, maybe have forum rules rather than guidelines.

I chanced across this site. It's difficult to navigate as the majority of the page is full of logosadverts - if you are lucky you can see one post at the bottom of the page.

c,mon its not like you have to manually wind the screen down by hand now is it(or maybe you do :-k) its like an almost inperceivable movement with your finger on the mouse :lol:

Does everyone have really really small screens or something? I can see all the logos and stuff at the top, the 5 stickies and the next 5 posts without having to touch anything....... or is it just that you all have it set to view in extra large?

Tell you what, if folk can prove the stickies aren't needed then we'll do something about them.

Until then, we'll be keeping 'em. Sadly though, we still see people cussing and being not-so-nice to each other, and we know no one reads the guidelines.

Apologies if folk find 'em an irritation, but such is life.  ;)

Yep, agree totally that this is light hearted banter, but the Club is bigger then this thread in this forum. Much bigger. But as the Bar is usually where everyone gathers it makes sense to place any unilateral info here.

As for folk not reading the guidelines, in order to get membership people have to agree to abide by 'em, but how many folk do you think actually read 'em properly? And be honest here.  ;)

Anyhoo, we've said our piece on the subject and for the time being, nowt is going to change. And really, is scrolling past five stickies such a big price to pay for the awesomeness that is Mud-Club?  ;)

Does anyone read the stickies? I don't normally see them because I use the 'show unread posts since last visit. But a quick look att hese and it does seem that sticky number 2 - 5 is the same topic with a different title. Certainly 2 and 4 state the same thing so perhaps these could be 'merged' so that new folk only have to read one rather than give up on all of them.

Just a suggestion - and hopefully within the posting guidelines  :doh:

Some of the stickied posts around the forum have been added in direct response to certain members deciding they wanted to "push the limits" or find loopholes in what they could get away with.   Thankfully, they seem to have either gone elsewhere or decided that the "fun" wasn't really worth the hassle.

We'll have a look and see if we can't combine the content into a single post.   That said, sticky posts will remain in various areas of the site as some are pertinent to those specific areas, and they do come in useful when you get asked for the umpteenth time... "Why can't I...."  "Where will I find.....", etc. etc.

Hope that appeases everyone !
