There's a flaw in your first part of your questionair. Land Rovers and Range Rovers are both by the same company (originally Rover, later to become Land Rover in its own right much later on). Not only that, it seems to be geared entirely around the concept that people always modify their vehicles. Mine does what modified ones do as well as non-modified ones, and mine is factory spec even though it's almost 40 years old...
