Good bye all safe driving!
« on: September 01, 2008, 22:31:43 »
Well due to the silly running cost of my T2, it was sold a few months ago and I havn't had a 4x4 since. Its unlikely I will be getting another one for a while. I have gone to one car just to save cash.

So chaps and chapesses, its best of luck to you all, I wish you all well and hope you can keep your cars for as long as possible.

Schuee, keep intouch mate...

Look at it this way, my Series 3 has not turned a wheel in about 10 months so you dont actually have to have a working, on-the road 4x4 to be a 4x4 owner. You could buy a few series 3 parts and call it a "project" ?

Thanks chaps, I feel a bit of a fraud not having a 4x4 and coming here... I have been feeling a bit down about selling the 4x4 and I miss it but it had to go what with the £600 bill to fill my Heating oil tank now a days
I think I shall stay, it you do not mind a Zafira owner  chipping in from time to time. ;)

You'll be very welcome to stay, there are quite a few folk out there without a 4x4 so stay and join in with the banter.  :)

Most of your previous postings were very informative and it would be a shame to lose the knowledge that you bring.

All are welcome here 4x4 or not.
I have a number of 4x4s in the back garden, none of them are currently in working order.
You can adopt one of them, just send me any money you have left at the end of the month (not a lot I suspect)
As for wanting a Zafira owner in here I went to the Mud Club Birthday Bash in a Zafira they are very good motors.
With regards to your speed gun it may be where most drivers would like to stick it but you will not see it without the aid of a mirror.
You don't need to be on the pitch to enjoy the game.
I will give it 12 months and you will have a cheap toy again, you mark my words.

I might be going the sameway as 'Boggert' for a while, with buying the XKR I'm told we have no 'family car' :-k
"Hello!, what's an 11 seater if not a (large) family car?"

But she's telling me with her travels to Newport (near Cardiff), we (she!) needs a normal car - so why did we buy the XKR, as nice as it is??

Anyways, I've been looking at Volvo V50's & Skoda Octavia estates (got to stay semi-practical)

Just to say I 100% agree with the others.

Some people on the forum always reply, others you know when they do reply its worth reading - you fit easily into the latter.

As a sideline after some of the pathetic abuse there was flying around some time ago this level of support is nice to see.

It is, which is why I just cannot see myself going...

Its funny I went for a spin tonight in my mates Landie, both me and my son were grinning from ear to ear... I will have another one day.

I belong to several forums round the world.

Some folk are active others are not, its all about lifestlye choices, not what you drive.

As somebody said a few posts ago:

Once in never out - I've only been active here for a short while, I've found a lot of useful info, had a lot of laughs and hopefully passed over a little of the wisdom (HUH??) that I have.

Stay man, Stay............we need more nutters in this world, not more namby pambying cottonwoolites.

You're not the only one I'm sure who has given up their 4x4 due to the running costs. It seems to me the genuine 4x4 users (i.e. those that need them for work or a bit of recreational use) are the hardest hit. The Chelsea Tractor brigrade who wouldn't know what difflock was can still afford to run them!

I'm in the same boat- gave up driving my Hilux a few months back a bought a 1.2L diesel Corsa. The Hilux was costing me £500 a month in fuel fuel- just to get to work!! The Corsa diesel is a great little car, 60+ mpg but not so hot for offroad! I'm keeping the Hilux on a weekend/limited milage insurance policy and running on veg oil. I still need something for load hauling & foul weather.
