I'd say it was more that personality defined musical taste.

However, to me it makes sense, classical music and heavy metal are remarkably similar in many respects, and some bands have managed to combine the two quite well :)

i find though that a lot of the time those who liked certain types of non-mainstream pop music liked it cos their mates did, and then got to like it for themselves.

i remember the heady days of 1986 when someone got me a tape of master of puppets in the school bus... id "heard" of metallica but when i listened to it i liked the noise, the aggression, the rhythm, so much better than what was on in the charts at the time.

been on a downhill slope ever since!

The problem is that they will and indeed have pigeon holed a lot of people  [-XI for one don't listen to any one sort of music I like a bit of everything

here are a few of my fav's :D

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fTD8hbXgMW0 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vQ_7srmo5cE
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SZdd1RaySCU http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ndjDrsBIFM

It worries me that they ask a lot of questions about your parents (tell me about your mother) it asks if I talk my problems through with my mum  :-. my mum lives miles away and I do see her but not often ... does that make me a jazz fan :-k And  I don't trust my Dad 100% cause he's mashed in the pub most of the time does that make me like eminem :-k(for those who need to know I don't like either ;)) but you know what I mean.

for me music is music and if it has "IT" then I'll like it and if it dosn't then I won't listen to it again. there is no type of music I'd rather listen to but it does have to have "IT" :D

.....the way i see it there are arguments for and against. evereything influences pirsonality and music is somthing that crosses all race, gender and class lines with no difficulty.....i was going to write a huuuuge essay on this becasue i did something simmilay for my psychology a level but i cant be arsed! my point still stands

as for the trend thing that snipes fella in the "white men cant jump" film rounds it up well while talking about jimmy hendrix(youtube it if you havnt seen)

first piece of music i "listend" to and i changed who i am.

Boss that is a rather bizzar video.

I used to have my stero set to come on in a morning playing pink floyd - another brick in the wall. No it didn't like school much

Music does have an effect on people, there are some I know that you wouldn't play foo fighters etc. to whilst they are driving for your own safety.
