Is It Just 'Sour Grapes', Or?
« on: September 09, 2008, 21:04:52 »
Had he simply reached the limits of his abilities & wasn't really eligible to go any further?

I am, of course, referring to Tarique Ghaffur & the controversy over his suing the Metropolitan Police.

Undoubtedly he 'shot himself in the foot' by giving interviews & launching a campaign prior to this case, & surely (BBC announces suspension), his words/phrases could be construed as 'Bringing The Force into Disrepute'

Bernard Dineen seems to sum it up

Also, as the wonderfully accurate 'Coppersblog' succintley puts it (& I'm paraphrasing, as I can't find the page in question at the moment)

'If a white (male) officer is disciplined, it might be done unofficially, just in the office, with essentially a "Silly <>, don't do it again!!" against him.

Conversely, a female (or Officer of a non-white background) might have to follow every official line going (cross the i's & dot the t's), so that everybody knows that it's all been done above board
Therefore will that Officer feel that the system is against him/her, as the commanding officer has followed Force protocols, if only to protect the force against any Ghaffur style accusations?'

One can only wonder what kind of effect this case is having on all of the other Officers that are performing their duties within the Force area?

This will carry on.

Current thinking in the Job, is that perhaps he wasn't good enough to do the job, hence he got turned down. Anyone being so blatantlt racist in the Police at the moment might as well hold a gun to their head and pull the trigger.

Yep!,

Not good enough to go any further, but isn't willing to accept it!

That's the opinion that I've got from talking to some of the local Officers
