The moral of the story is to wear gloves

Well I came home and started building a shelf unit and managed to slip with the grinder while cutting a bracket and ground out my middle knuckle joint on my index finger on my left hand!  :doh: Totally sprayed my self with blood ... :-> Its was funny realy looked like horror film.  :shock:

Have seen a surgeon who has given me the all clear, just ground the bone down a bit so I guess I should wear my leather gloves next time!

Before I forget, a big Thanks to Grantham Hospital, totally underfunded and under staffed, but they were so great!

I always have a set of heavy leather gloves nearby, especially when welding. I stuff them down my trousers. Not because of a fetish, but I have two long scars down the inside of my legs, where a large blob of weld fell off, burnt through my jeans, just missed the 'dangly bits and proceded to sizzle its way down the inner side of my legs. :shock:
I walked like John Wayne for a week. The girls at work were impressed, but cringed when I told them why.

I always make sure I'm well tucked in now after an unfortunate incident involving builders backside and a big spark. Could'nt sit down for ages and swmbo nearly bust a gut laughing.

Its a bit of an eye opener when you can see inside your finger... the doctor was showing me, the knuckle joint, the tendons... fascinating if you ask me.

i always wear a hat after setting fire to my head with grinding sparks.. And a leather apron when welding, after some splatter welded the zip together on the fleece i was wearing.. Was a [!Expletive Deleted!] to get out of   :shock:

I always ware gloves, I have so many different types.

Slightly oily riggers gloves for cars/drilling/grtinding
Latex gloves for general car work
Clean gloves for furniture lifting
"Popper"Welding gloves
And a load of HD plastic gloves for weeding/creosote and I EVEN write stuff like "RAGWORT" on my ragwort pulling gloves so I know thay are poisonous!

As I work in an office my hards are so soft, I shook hands with a bloke one at the golf club and he said "BL***Y Hell youv got soft girly hands"

Also my Proban race overalls are illegal form the end of next year so they will be demoted to welding overalls, they have my blood group embroidered on them!

I took the end of my index finger off with an electric plane :shock:

The wall would never paint - it kept showing through after a few months :lol: :lol:

Shame you forgot your phone, you could have took some FHM style photos and shared your pain with us all, just to emphasise the need to wear protective clothing of course.
