Getting stroppy...
« on: February 25, 2005, 11:29:55 »
So, soon I will be fitting a steering guard with built in recovery points, and I've got a rear tow bar but may fit Jate rings back there too.

I have no need for a winch, but I want to get a strop to go between the two points to aid recovery.

I need your links to GOOD suppliers of strops, shackles and tow ropes (not kinetic).  I want web sites people, ready... GO

agreed :D

I'm in need of a shackle, or two, as well. Where's best for those, and what type?

Shackles....

Devon 4x4, David Bowyer, Local Lifting Specialist, etc.

Get Rated Shackles... always...

Bow Shackles are best for most things you will want to do.

OK ... an RBS3 (as suggested by them) is £3.30 + VAT. Postage would probably be £6.25 (for 4) - does anyone live close enough to pick them up and bring to an event?

Or, does anyone want to join in on an order to save on postage?

I only need two so add that to how many you wanted and let me know the cost including my share of the postage Gordon. I can either settle with you at Whaddon or send you some money before

Settle at Whaddon is fine! I'm ordering the RBS3 which is rated 4.75T and costs £3.30 + VAT. The RBS4 is rated at 6.25T and costs £4.10 - in case you'd rather!

Get yourself down to your local Boat Jumble:

http://www.boatjumbleassociation.co.uk/

best place to go for bargain hardware I've found. Loads of other interesting HEAVY DUTY junk including towing, trailers, wire & winches, ropes and other boat related stuff going cheap too! Next one in Cornwall isn't till May though.

I'm going to the one at Malvern this Sunday- want to get some paint & bits for the boat, towing straps, stainless steel shackles (fed up of the usual galvanised ones going rusty) and some BIG stainless steel bolts and Nylocks for an upcoming project.
