Dorset monthly meet
« on: October 07, 2008, 15:53:06 »
Gone a bit quiet on the Dorset front so thought I would raise the subject again.

Whose up for a monthly (or more) meet.

I am not the rep but am happy to do some organising to arrange something.

If folks are interested then pop your name down with prefered type/location of meet

IE:
bullfrog - Pub
bullfrog - lane trip

I'm always up for a bit of a get-together Martin, although i've just taken on the treasureres job of the Dorset Land rover club, formerly the dorset land rover and range rover owners club.....  so my time is going to be spread even thinner...!!

Ron.... Pub or Lane trip on a weekend maybe.....
gone from 200tdi.... to 300tdi... still with loads done to it, in fact, even more than the last truck...LOL!!!

Im in Salisbury so not far away, why not combine all the suggestions and have a weekend involving some green laning and the pub or 2 in the evenings

I agree that it would be a good thing to get a Dorset met going again. I think that we should do a pub meet first to gauge interest and take it from there.

Right then,
we used to meet at the Fox and hounds but I was thinking we need somewhere a bit more central, a decent carpark and a warm fire !
I cant remember who is actually the rep and I dont want to step on toes but am happy to organise this and ask a few pubs .
Think if we want this to work we need an informal arangment with a pub.
I like the idea of a lane trip with pub after.
I reckon once a mont is enough at the mo and see how things go.

Those interested put start, middle or end of month.

Thanks

Not the first friday or monday of the month, other than that i'm easy....;)

Also, i suspect might be better to say a weekday, due to weekend being busy for a lot of people.... but like i say, i'm easy!!

Last friday sounds ok...... if there are so few people showing interest, it's hardly worth asking a pub mate,.... we could just turn up......

True, Loads of offroaders round here. Will see if I can boost membership.
Out with WCOR over weekend and most of them are fairly local.

Hi guys, I live in weymouth and own a land rover 90 wolf.  I am new to the 4x4 scene but would be interested in meeting up with you guys and maybe learning a thing or two.  Unfortunatley I can't do the 28th November as I have another commitment but will keep an eye on this thread for future dates you organise.  You mentioned a few other events in dorset, what else happens round here that I could pop along too?

Cheers Craig.

There's a fair few clubs that meet regularly. (trials, laning, punch challanges etc)
I know theres a trial at Crossways this weekend. Saturday I think.
ideal for novices as they are a nice freindly club

That will be the Woolbridge Motor Club

Alternatively there is also the Southern Counties Off Road Club. Our next trial is at Chichester on the 30th and then Mannington near Three Legged Cross on 14th December. Note that SCOR have exclusive access to the Mannington site.

I also happen to be on the SCOR committee, so if you have any further questions just ping me a PM :)

Hi Craig.... there always the Dorset Land Rover club....... i just happen to be the treasurer, if you want friendly competition, we have trials most months, quite simple stuff, mostly non damaging.... but it's up to the drivers wether they wanna drive it or not...... we have monthly meets at 'the Greyhound' in Winterborne Kingston, first friday of the month......  come along and see what you think....... membership runs from Jan-jan...... so join now and you get 13 months for the price of 12...LOL!!!
