Just a grumble :(
Always had Land Rovers, but petrols 2.25 & v8's etc and this is my first diesel (300 TDI) have spent a lot of effort getting it together, just needs the sills doing now, scrubs up well, the intercooler gets swapped out every 3 months as i have a spare so one is cleaned whilst the other is in use and it now goes like a steam train compared to when i bought, New suspension, Southdown Tank guard, tyres, engine mods. But it just has loads of tinkering, and am loosing patience and as of yet due to commitments has not yet been off road (7 months) Took us to south of France and did not miss a beat.
How much further should i go....... Carry on Modding repairing etc or just convince SWMBO that i want a newer vehicle (TD5). I bought this one as it appeared pretty straight cosmetically and new it would take work to get the mechanics right, but i am spending every weekend tinkering but the engine seems sound just not used to running a diesel :(
Last grumble, cant find end caps and valance any where local to me..... Anyone got these going spare., as if i sell it will put front back to standard.
Thanks for listening

dunno what your complaining about, sounds like youve got a nice disco
just compare the mpg to a V8
i havent properly off roaded mine for nearly 2 years  but its all the cleaner for it
if you do sell, and need new bumpers you may aswell buy a full bumper from ebay, put a wanted add in here
good luck

Will Post some pickies, just really hacked off this morning, will probably just keep it in good condition and give up the severe off roading and am sure it runs very well for a Diesel

Just think of all the people that havent got a land rover,I went without one for nearly a year, worst year of my life mate, while all my mates were out giving theres some old billy no land rover here sat at home with the mrs,and thats just plain depressing!Yeah, routine stuff can get a little tedious but it gets you out of the house and keeps you active. For me its something you expect when you pay for the car (especailly older models)that your going to have to nurse it through its more mature years,if i didnt want to do it i would have bought something other than a land rover. We all have bad days mate.

Peasey you are so right, spent 2 years without one and like you say it was the worst time ever, longest period without one. It does get me out of the house.
SWMBO thinks i am having midlife crisis (40 in 2 months)

In general the TDI will sound rough when fired up from cold. After a decent run they are a completely different animal.
Just keep checking the fluids, change the timing belt, oil and filters regularly, and enjoy it.

You dont know you're born fella :)
That nice looking disco gently articulating its rear coils in my avatar is a thing of the past.
RTV's, extreme tuesday nights (as we call em') and general hard work have left my motor looking well battered. There isn't a panel without a dent, I've one unbroken lense, both sills are squashed, my roof guttering looks like a BMX track after ripping my roofrack off on trees... it goes on.
I wish I had 2 of em, one for playing and one for being smart and posh.
At least it's mechanically sound. (I really shouldn't have said that....)
