I did think about stopping and offering a tow but I was in me rover and only has a max tow weight limit of 1200kg and a transit van I know is over 200kg when empty so would have been breaking the law ;)

Did you stop and point that out to the officers concerned after offering a tow? No offence meant to the police as I know we hav a few on here.

no offence to the police here. I think you all do a great job, I just dont like camera vans and cameras in general. I dont often speed but I know the time I am looking at something esle, ie muppet about to pull out in front of me, will be the time I creep over the speed limit and get caught.

sorry no photos. :(

I don't see a problem with that. I have no love for the vans either. I was tasked to pull one out with a Job Landrover once as the numpty driving the van had parked on the verge and it had sunk.
I was the only one on who was 4x4 trained, but pointed out to the Control Room that as the job hadn't fitted our Defender with a winch and I had not been allowed to do the Police recovery course as stipulated by the Health and Safety Dept, I couldn't do it. I had a silent smirk to myself as I drove past the van and waved at the driver.
As for others laughable misfortune, there was the burglar who had his house burgled. I took great delight in telling him "Sorry sir, no forensic evidence, so No Further Action".
Shame!
