MOT fixed penalty

Just a warning to all my MOT ran out 3 Days ago,
I was just on my way back from watching the new bond film an blue light started flashing behind me.....
I pulled over the copper said my mot hav ran out. i thought it ran out on the 24th of nov but it ran out on the 24 oct  :( :(
So got a fixted penalty of £60  :'( :'(
Wishing i didn't bother to go and see the film now as it was boaring  :'(

Oh that's harsh, but sadly you can see where he's coming from, no MOT not insurance etc etc.

My first year of driving I thought my mot ran out at the end of a month and found it was the beginning.  :shock: Thankfully it sailed through the mot and all was ok. I now highlight my mot and insurance dates in my diary so I cant forget!

Sorry I take on these annoying things from my late dad. He was always organised and early for everything too. In the genes I guess!  :lol:


I could say that my shed has cupboards for tools and draers and all of the fronts have labelled what is inside and where the writing on the draws / doors states where in side it goes too.

Do I need to get my coat and run now?  :lol: :oops:

actually I have them all the same colour and buy socks in bulk of same colour so any 2 I pull out the draw are a pair.  :lol: :D

i went to dig my documents out to get tax end of last week and thought the mot ran out in december but found out it ran out on the 19th september i count myself very lucky i didnt get pulled and get a fine. but im gutted my truck failed and couldnt go to my pay and play day, i just had to watch,

well good news and bad news....

Bad news is my disco failed the mot  :'( .... but....

It failed at 10 sat morning on a hole in the sill at the front outrigger.   :'( :'(
buy about 11 i had got it home and repaired it and got it back for the re test and it passed  :lol: :lol: :dance: :dance:

I went online to tax the Mondeo at the end of October, confident that it was MOT'd until mid November.  It came up saying that there was no longer a valid MOT - it ran out the day before I went online!  It has now passed and I taxed it today.

I have done 1,200 miles in the car in the last year as I am still on maternity leave and the seat belts were almost an inch too short to go round the baby seat.

As HWTHSBO and I have three cars between us at the moment, I think some stickers are going to be placed in windscreens in future!

but where do i get off driving a car on a traders insurrance like for going for mot and the owner dont have it insurred i could stick up trade plates but it is a grey area at the mo about the use of them

Trade plates are used as temporary 'tax' to legally move an unlicenced car on the road - nothing to do with insurance.  You don't need them if you are driving to/from a prebooked MOT, as this is allowed (since you can't tax a car without an MOT). 

Your trade policy covers you for Trade work, irrespective of the state of the owners insurance arrangements (or lack of).

the MOT man told me that you can drive to a pre booked appointment but if it fails  and there is notime left on the previous MOT, you're not suppossed to drive it away....

You can drive to or from a pre-booked MOT test, with or without a valid MOT (otherwise how could you get something without an MOT tested?)

yup, you can drive TO a booked MOT but if it fails, its not suppossed to be driven away from the MOT

when i went for an mot a couple of years back, it failed and i got stopped on the way home, i told them that i was on my way home from the mot but they still took me to court :(
But when the day came for the court i went to the place that did the mot first and they said that the police had been in and checked that it had been in the day i was stopped :?
So i went in to court and said that i was on my way home from an mot and the police had check this out!!!
The out come was i could clam back the the day wasted going to court over this.
so as long as you are booked in for mot and insured you can go to and from an mot ;)

The only exception to this is if the MOT tester deems the vehicle to be too dangerous to be driven home. You can still remove your property from the premises but, technically, the MOT tester should inform the Police that he is aware of a dangerous vehicle being driven on the road.

A little hole in a sill is not going to be a problem, but 3 out of 4 brakes not working should never be allowed off the premises as an example!

The problem is when the MOT tester is aware of a crime being committed but doesn't report it. I think this is an offence in it's own right. LSP, Boggert????
