Snapped my exhaust today
« on: November 16, 2008, 21:58:18 »
Went to the site at stoke today had a great day, however my disco is now lighter than when I started. Lost my back bumper, no big deal it was worse for wear anyway.
But i also lost my exhaust right back to turbo, but it sounds and performs great with no exhaust so I got to thinking I could just bring my exhaust out of the front wing, all I was worried about is am I likely to have a problem with sucking water back in through it seen as the pipe will be so short???

I don;t think you'd suck water back as such, but being so short itd be unbearably loud......... and i believe illegal.....

Far better to make a proper side exit exhaust coming out in the panel behind the rear wheel - there are several threads about this on here.

True, but i still think having the exhaust exiting at the front of the vehicle would make it too short, too loud, and also, if it exits straight out of the side, i believe it's an mot fail.......

Mind you, mine comes out the side, on the lower rear quarter......

I have decided to do the safe thing and come out the rear quarter, this apparently according to an MoT tester I know is still something I could get pulled for as it shoots out the nearside which is too near pedestrians, but if I bring it out the front then if I open the window the fumes can come in 2 easily which is an MoT fail.
